MY SOCIAL SITTER SHOULD BE RUNNING ON EVERY COMPUTER IN EVERY SCHOOL…AND THIS IS WHY – By Melissa Anthony

Schools are relying more and more on technology. Many schools don’t use actual textbooks anymore. Long gone are the days of piles of paperwork coming home everyday. Parent/teacher communication is done virtually, with the old “no cell phone” rules pretty much ancient history by the time kids are in high school.

IT and Communications Directors use Twitter and Facebook to get upcoming events and information out to the parents and community. They have realized that taking advantage of the digital age is the fastest, most effective way to communicate, and it is pretty much the only way that children and teens are communicating. Blocking Twitter and Facebook on school computers has been ineffective when trying to keep students off of social media.

The best way to fully take advantage of the technological society our kids live in is to fully embrace it. Just as educators and parents teach children how to act and react positively to situations they encounter while growing up, the same is needed for their actions on social media.

My Social Sitter takes that big burden off of parents and educators. Allowing students access to Twitter and Facebook within the school, shows students that instead of blocking social media, as adults, we understand that this an ever changing game and we are on top of it. The best part is, Social Sitter does all the work!
